Taking it to practice is one of my best-kept secrets, I say that because I don’t see many people taking them to the practice range, just to the golf course. It is just great for this, too many times at practice the yard markers have been moved so many times, who knows if they are accurate or not.
Taking precision readings is essential to getting better at your golf game. Not knowing is not the answer, think of your rangefinder as a tool a learning tool. A learning tool that takes some time to get the hang of.
It is best to teach yourself at home before taking it out, the instructions are easy enough to tackle as they are user friendly.

Some say that they are useless and not needed, well in reality I guess
they are not really needed. You can always play golf without one but it makes it easier to know your distances you get from different clubs. You can get to know what you can do with each one of your clubs, now you know what distance you can get out of a three iron. If they were, useless companies like Bushnell would be spending a lot of money on nothing then.
Well if you get the laser rangefinder with the slope mode, no more guessing at how the slope of the field is going to affect your shot. The slope mode will make quick diagnoses of the situation and give you the correct distance taking into account the slope of the course. Giving you the actual distance to the flag, the slope is quite hard to calculate.
Being aware of the complete distance to the pin, the have above h2o, the width of the fairway to the nearest property can give really serious practical guide when it comes to making a club choice. With this intel to hand, there is certainly a real prospect of lowering your score in medal enjoy or getting strokes off your handicap.

They do seem to work if used properly it does take some time to be good with them but…..
You can use the rangefinder to check distances to fairway bunkers, to the far side of any dogleg or to other hazards. This helps you determine the correct club to play.
rangefinders reviews
I would want one that calculated the slope like you mentioned, I was wondering to pros use these, I’m guessing there not allowed to use them during the game but if I were a pro I would be out there on that course the day before learning the different distances with one of these bad boys.
No they cannot use the slope in a tournament in most cases….but before the game in practice….the caddies make good use of them….you will see them looking in their books all the time…..The have not really been around for that long…but they are getting more popular as time goes on that is for sure…thanks for the comment Ty
Always been a fan of the Bushnell trail cameras. The rangefinder looks to be a great bit of kit too.
Bushnell seems to be a great make of most things they do all round outdoor company for sure….
I have never been a golf, but I have recently been looking at it, do you think it is necessary to get a range finder when you first get started?
No I know I never I let the game get under my skin first, meaning that now I can’t stop trying, this game gets under your skin, but wait until you get hooked because for some golf is all or nothing…they have a price to them so if it not lyour game….well be sure that is all I am trying to say….good luck…it never hurts…:)
I’ve got to get me one of these. I love the game but I need all the help I can get
They have a price to go with them but if you do love the game and are just plain bad, like me, yes all the help we can get is appreciated…
So, how do you find out the distance of your drive? Do you get a distance to the pin from your T then to the pin when you find your ball and subtract that?
I use a colour ball in practice and zoom in on the ball, the big problem is replicating the swing….in the game it never really happens for me…but I guess there are more than one way to skin a golf ball…:)
Honestly, I can dial in to the inch and my shot never goes where I want it to. Darn Range Finder – hee hee. Seriously, it’s an addicting sport once you get the hang of it, right Tim? When you hit it right, ohhhhh what a feeling. You think you can do it again and again and then one day all h#$%#@# breaks lose:) Great site.
It really seems when you get a good shot away that you should be able to replicate it but not usually does it happen….maybe in the next life…ha ha
